The official name of foosball is table football. The basic rules are simple and very similar to the rules of football – the goal is to score as many goals as possible and lose as little as possible. The difference is that the match is played on a special table, and the goals are scored with player-shaped figures mounted on transverse bars (so-called grills). Table football can be played with 2 or 4 people. It is worth knowing, however, that apart from the generally known rules, there are a number of additional regulations specifying, for example, how you cannot score goals or how the game starts.

The beginning of the history of table football cannot be accurately determined, also when it comes to the “father” of this game, the sources are not consistent. What is certain, the first attempts to construct the table were made at the end of the 19th century, but one of the earliest versions reminiscent of today’s appearance was created by Edwin James Lawrencer in 1913. As for the creator of the prototype, which already contains all elements, unfortunately the sources are also not compatible.

In 2002, it was established Itf (International Table Soccer Federation – International Table Football Federation). In Poland, steps to formalize table football have started in 2006. In 2009, it was officially registered Polish Table Football Association.

What is very important, few people probably know that Polish players are very successful in international arenas. on held in France on 5-8.01.2012 World Cup and Team World Cup Polish representatives won three medals – two zlotys one bronze.
