On the day April 18, 2015 In M1 Shopping Center in Zabrze a sports event took place “Spring with Ping-Pong”, organized by companies Children’s Sports, Cornilleau, M1 Zabrze and Toursport. The main goal was to enable all lovers of this sport to spend a Saturday afternoon playing table tennis, but also to promote it among the youngest, beginners and those who would like to learn more about this discipline.

During the event, participants had the opportunity to participate in a tournament with prizes – held in two age categories – and also play against a robot or enjoy recreational games with family or friends. A total of 13 tables were available to participants, and they were constantly surrounded by groups of people eager to play. Organizers ensured that each table had balls and rackets, ensuring that everyone could participate.

All of this resulted in over 1,000 people attending the event, with over 300 playing at the tables, including 53 tournament participants. The venue was eagerly attended by both those who had heard about the event and entire families with children who had just gone to the center to do some shopping. The event was filled with positive emotions and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Many participants eagerly asked when they could participate in a similar event again.

The special guests were the coaches Table Tennis AcademyJarosław Tomicki (two-time Polish vice-champion, participant of the World Championships in Rotterdam) and Dariusz Steuer (European Uniformed Services Champion), who led the entire event and also put on a spectacular table tennis demonstration. Throughout the event, they were happy to offer advice; guests could ask them about any aspect of table tennis and even play a practice game.

It’s worth noting that the event was a major organizational success. The high level of interest and positive feedback from participants will undoubtedly encourage similar initiatives in the future. We hope that events like this will promote table tennis, but above all, active leisure time.
