What is MMA and where does it come from?
Mixed martial arts (MMA for short) is a form of sports competition that combines different styles. It consists in the fact that players of different arts can test their skills among themselves. The assumption of such a system is to try to answer the question which of the fighting techniques is the most effective. The rules of the tournaments are constructed in such a way that none of the competitions is favored in relation to the others.
Today’s mixed martial arts competitions were invented in the early 1990s in the United States. According to many, MMA is the future of martial arts. The enormous viewership and great money circulation have made it very popular in the USA, Japan and European countries.
MMA is the sixth most popular sport in Poland according to research.
A few years ago, the wave of interest in this discipline also reached Poland. The driving force behind its popularity is the Confrontation of Martial Arts (KSW) promoting the entire competition. So far, over a dozen professional tournaments have been organized in Poland, which took place under the KSW badge.
What is the phenomenon of MMA in Poland? – The interest in this competition is due to two reasons. First of all, a great crowd of fans was attracted to MMA by Mariusz Pudzianowski, who in 2009 fought his first fight in mixed plays. Pudzianowski’s name acted on fans like a magnet.
The mixed martial arts also owes their popularity to the fact that they are the closest to the so-called “street fights”. Competitors compete with a large range of permitted techniques. There is a common opinion that MMA allows them to do almost anything. This additionally attracts the audience. This argument is also referred to by people who criticize similar professions.
The rules of mixed arts actually allow a lot. In this respect, it stands out from the rest of the sports, as the most important rules do not limit MMA representatives to a large extent. On the other hand, there are many rules that are aimed at ensuring the safety of the fighters. It is not allowed, inter alia, Hit the back of the head, the larynx and the puppies and stick your fingers in the eyes.
According to MMA rules, fighters can use almost all techniques in the field of hand-to-hand martial arts. These include Elements of boxing, kick-boxing, wrestling, and even karate or taekwondo.
This makes the competition extremely effective and diverse. Participants and viewers can see which of the techniques is the best in confrontation with the others. MMA fulfills the eternal dream of finding the first warrior, the best of all martial arts.
MMA is very spectacular. There are rarely boring duels here, and decisions are often made in the first minutes due to effective blows. It can be an exciting spectacle. and also unpredictable. We have few unbeaten players. It is difficult to master all the techniques and methods of fighting.
